While regretting the way landscape elements are being overlooked, despite being integral to much modernist design, he points to the work of Charles Birnbaum and the Cultural Landscape Foundation in redressing the balance and in organizing grass roots campaigns to defend important works such as the amazing Heritage Park Plaza in Fort Worth Texas and Eero Saarinen's work on the grounds of Bell Laboratories in Holmdel New Jersey. I too feel landscape design is overlooked - mainly in sustainability. All too often do I see businesses' landscaping being overwatered to the point it is running out into the gutter daily and regulary being treated with chemical fertilizers that get washed out by the overwatering. I think most everyone enjoys beautiful grounds, but don't understand the harm poor design or lack of conscious concerning the environment.
