Does any one have any ideas for a shirt for my students? We are Battle of the Books team. We have 7 students and 2 teachers. We need a way to display all of our names on the shirt in a creative way. Our school mascot is the Watt Man. Don't ask. It is a lightning bolt man. Any ideas?

How soon do you need your design? What books have been your students favorites? What grade level(s) are the students? Is there a theme to the book list this year? Your design choice may be limited by these following questions: Are you limited in the number of colors the t-shirts will be produced in? Are you doing professional printing? Screen printing? Iron-on transfers? Previous design? Brainstorming.... "Watt Man" holding up a bookshelf and on the shelves are books that include your student and teacher names as well as books that are your students' favorites or on the battle list. Another idea "Watt Man" and representative figures of your students doing battle with the nemesi, villians, etc. of the books. You could include the name of the student on the shirt of the respresentative figure or have someone draw their faces so that you can identify them or even have charactures done. Just a few ideas and thoughts to get your creative ideas jump-started. Good luck! Thelma Kastl, West Jefferson, NC

Hello, Here's a possibility. Show your teams jumping over stacks of books as if they are racing over diiferent topics. The illustration could be of book titles that students have read or are suppose to read. Show the teams racing and leaping over the books and possibly through the pages.

I'm not sure how many students you have and if the Watt Man is the center logo. If it can be placed where a pocket would go, you can put two or three students' names on book spines. Remember you can print on the back of the shirt also.

I agree with the race theme that Timothy described. Maybe you could add the mascot passing a baton off to a student to add a feeling of teamwork.

Our school does a fun run race through the French Quarter called "the Little Red Schoolhouse Fun Run". Each year we have a contest and have the students design the shirt. They really like it because as they get older, they can remember their designs whenever a teacher or parent wears one of the shirts.

The younger students aspire to have their shirt design chosen when they get older.
